The new project initiated by the Golden Mask in 2009 is called “MASKA PLUS”. This is an international non-competition programme that aims to present a number of Russian productions recommended by the experts as well as selected shows from the CIS and other countries of the world. “MASKA PLUS” proved to be an important and relevant initiative. It was therefore decided that the programme should be continued and is to become an annual event of the Golden Mask Festival.

“MASKA PLUS” supplements the main/competition programme highlighting the diversity and multiplicity of today’s theatre. The 2nd edition of “MASKA PLUS” presents Russian performances recommended by the board of experts of the Golden Mask, shows from Latvia, Belgium, Poland, US and the CIS. An essential element of “MASKA PLUS”-2010 is the section dedicated to new writing. The section includes play readings, work-in-progress, performances, seminars and discussions.
