Baganova was born in the Tyumen region (Ural, Russia). She started dancing in a children’s choreographic group when she was four years old. At the age of seven Tatiana embarked on the study of classical ballet and folk dance. She graduated from the Moscow Culture University (specialization “Choreographer and Choreography Teacher”) in 1990. After her graduation Baganova started working with the Provincial Dances theatre, Yekaterinburg, as a dancer and an actress. Later she started her own work, beginning with miniatures. Her first serious work was a one-act choreography Versions. Part I. She studied contemporary dance and showed her choreographic work as a participant of the ADF guest program. In 1994 she became a choreographer at the Provincial Dances theatre. She choreographed 8 pieces: …from the Life of Butterflies, Man is Waiting, Maple Garden, etc. As a dancer, Baganova performed in works by choreographers such as Monika Runde (Spain), Donald McKayle (USA), Anouk van Dijk (Netherlands), Christine Brunel and Joachim Schlömer (Germany). Apart from Provincial Dances, Baganova worked as a choreographer in other theatres, like the Novosibirsk Youth Theatre Globus (rock-opera Notre-Dame de Paris, 1997), Yekaterinburg Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre (La Traviata, 1998), Yekaterinburg Academic Theatre of Musical Comedy (The Fair Galateja, 1998), Experimental Youth Theatre of the Urals Academy of Music (Thais, 1998). In 2000 and 2001, Baganova received the Russian National Theatre Award «Golden Mask» for the best contemporary dance choreography. She also received special awards from the Theatre Statesmen Union of Russia as well as the Award of the Yekaterinburg Government.
