Yevgeny Marchelli, a son of an Italian immigrant, was born in Frunze, Moldavia, in 1957. He studied at the Yaroslavl Theatre School and worked as an actor for the Bryansk Young Spectators' Theatre. In 1986, he graduated from the Schukin Theatre School in Moscow, directing department. He worked as the theatre director for the Drama Theatres in Sovetsk, Omsk, Kaliningrad. His stagings number about 60 performances. In 2010, he was invited to the Volkov Drama Theatre, Yaroslavl, as the artistic director. In various yearsMarchelli has been a nominee and winner of the Golden Mask National Theatre Award. The production of A MONTH IN THE COUNTRY is nominated for the Golden Mask Award 2016 in six categories, including “the best small scale production” and “best director”.
