THE HEAVENLY ARGAMAC
Puppet Theatre "Ulger", Ulan-Ude
Director - Tuyana Badagaeva
An ancient Buryat legend tells about how the Mother Goddess creates the sky, the earth and, of course, man. The first man needed an assistant: the winged horse, the heavenly Argamak. The epic mystery is performed by the Ulger Theatre in the open-air, accompanied by the real fires, around original yurts and to the sound of a morin huur – a musical instrument with strings made of horsehair. Its sounds are born from the history of the friendship of man and the horse, and are reminiscent of the breath of the steppe: a whiff of wind or flames in the fireplace, the rustling of grass or the purling of water.
